Let’s just stop and think about this for a minute. Magnus Bane has never know a parent’s love…his father is a demon, his mother couldn’t handle him being a warlock, and his step-father tried to kill him. But Magnus reassures Alec that his Maryse and Robert love him, because they’re his parents. He doesn’t say Alec doesn’t need their approval (even though he doesn’t, imo), doesn’t try to say “forget about them”, no. Because that was Magnus’ experience. Magnus didn’t need his parents but he knows Alec does. That Alec’s family is important to him. He puts his own past aside for Alec. Just think about this…and possibly get emotional…because Magnus Bane everyone.
